i signed up for rachel and elsie's "tell your story" art journaling class and so far i'm so extremely excited. ive always wanted to get into art journaling but have never really got the hang of it. i'm hoping this class shows me all the things i knew about myself and some things i didn't. i'm ready to open up a world of possiblities.

one of the cutest, craftiest, tattoo covered girls i know is goin to be in the Miss Tattoo USA pageant down in Dallas, TX. if you are in the area you must go check her out. Silje has an array of colorful unique tattoos and i'm happy to say that she was the first tattoo artist i visited. she made my experience very fun and not painful at all (well just a little bit). i'll be routing for you and hope you win!

now i have the urge to get another tattoo!

i want to learn from you

i've been dreaming of vintage dresses and mismatched clothing for weeks now. i want to rework/remix thriftstore finds. i want to create a whole line of just my style and make it work. i want to take a step out of the normal and actually feel comfortable being ME. these lovely girls are pushing me to that dream and i'm so excited to start the spring off with a wonderful start.

first its this lovely girl over at idee geniale her style is so beautiful and she pairs the prettiest stuff with almost a gentleman feel. she is also part of a group of girls that share clothes and make that item their own. such a wonderful idea.

second is a girl a lot of people admire. she is vintage beautiful and i wish to be like her. miss amanda. everything from gloves to hats and killer coats. *swoon*

last but not least is a finnish girl in love with a bear.milla. her woodish style and simple life make such a pretty wardrobe. she's not afraid to layer mismatched clothes and they look adorable on her. she makes me want to run off to the woods and live creativly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RVA!

One year ago a beautiful store that goes by the name of RED VELVET ART became a reality. I was so excited that I was able to attend the grand opening and start the friendships that i now have with miss Elsie Flannigan and Rachel Denbow. I want to thank the two of them for having this great thing called RVA and to have the opportunity to bring so many people together. I have started so many new amazing friendships through the love of RVA and all the fun that it brings. I found a few photos of the grand opening and im so happy that i have so many photos from the past year. yay! loves!

last weekend my computer wanted to have a mind of its own and try to catch a virus. everything was locking up and disappearing. i had to leave my computer with my cousin so he could try and revive it and make sure i didn't loose all my photos...i would have cried (wait..i did cry)but he was able to make me virus free and all my photos were there when i got my baby back. so i'm back now and able to start this blog process for the year. thanks everyone for sticking with me.

i want to apoligize for the lack of my presence. ive had some internet difficulties. im now back and ready to start 2010 witha good start. i've decided to join in on some journal swaps, happy mail, and other random fun.
went on a last minute flea market adventure and came across 2 lovely things.
my new boots. they make me so HAPPY! i can't wait to wear them all the time.

my new cotton candy colored vintage dress. the bottom half is kind of quilted and it fits me perfect. it was deal too. $3 whole dollars. ya buddy!

got to go for the night...kicking me out of the laundry mat.

Happy Mail has arrived...this week i came home to a package at the door and 2 in the mail box. this week as been horrible and these packages totally made my day. i'm so thankful to have the blog friends that i do and the chance to make more through jamieand her happy mail love.

This weekend mom and i went on a flea/thrifting adventure. i decided to go with my new motto "if its more than $5 you don't need it". i put it to the test and i walked away with about 7 bags full. WOWZA! i didn't spend more than 4.95 on anything. it was so much fun. we had lunch at Chipotle and then we headed home to rummage through our goodies.

.the crochet project?.

for someone who doesn't know any stitches and doesn't really know how to crochet at all. i'm pretty proud of myself. all i did was start with the simple single stitch and away i went. the photos don't really show how bright pink that yarn is, but belive me its bright. my lighting in the house sucks. sorry. i just added some vintage lace i had and a cute button. its now a neckwarmer/scarf. can't wait to make some more. yay me!

this is the start of something in my bathroom. i never really have had anything goin on in there decor wise and so i think i'm goin to start with a collection of random stuff. my starting point was this wonderful screen print that my friend nicole gave me this past weekend and i love it. thanks bunches!

working on more as i type this. gotta get back to the goodie yarn.

while in springfield i picked up some lovely tinsel at one of the flea markets. i soon realized i need to make a tinsel wreath. i've been wanting to make a pretty wreath to be hung up all year round and i think this is goin to make the perfect one. just a little hot glue and some tinsel and away i went.

im really loving it but i feel its missing something. i'm goin for the nautical theme i think. thats what my living room is and i'm hoping to hang this in there.

NEWBIES!

All i can say is WOO HOO! i had a blast this weekend with all my new friends. i'm so excited that i had this chance to spend with them. i for sure didn't want the weekend to end so quickly. another trip has got to be in the works. we need to spend some more time together soon.
i didn't get many pictures taken for some reason but the few i did i'm happy with. i got to get one of baby ruby. love her already. visting RVA was fun and very sparkly. crafting time with the girls. thrifting was well worth it. i only spent $28.00 and walked away with 5 bag fulls. SCORE! jamie's idea of making huge polariods was so fun. can't wait to make some for myself and have mini shoots with them. eeek! so here are my weekend in pictures. love you girls!

Spending the weekend with some of the best blog friends. Took a trip to RVA, did some thrifting, caramel apple spice cider, Big Mommas, hotel room crafting. Enjoying the time to get to know each one of these girls!

a lot has been going on in my life so i'm trying to make my december goals short and simple. i really haven't been in the mood to do anything exciting so i'm hoping in the near future some blog friends will help lighten the mood.

4. work on the house (still so much to accomplish)

so can you guess? thats right i officially jumped on the cinnamon pumpkin spice bandwagon. so that what i call it anyway. that is the color i was goin for. i've been a brunette for 25 yrs and i thought it was finally time to jump out of my box and discover something wild and fun. i have got such weird looks this week. people are crazy. anyway i have accomplished one goal for november and i hope this can be a fresh new start to my life as a 25yr old. bring on the fun!

i've been tagged and so have you. over at miss elsiecakes is a little game that i usually don't give in to but some how in the last few weeks i have really enjoyed things like this. weird. anyways here goes:

1. where is your cell phone? right next to me on the table..waiting for important text messages (not really)

2. Your Hair? as you can see my hair gets curly and slightly out of control but for some reason i believe the bigger my hair is the more pretty i feel. 3. Your Mother? momma is someone who tends to be a grown up me. we enjoy almost everything the same and she is ready to take care of me at anytime. whenever i need her. isn't she beautiful?

4. Your Father? my daddy is the most amazing man in the world. he holds a huge spot in my heart. plus i look like him and he's super duper handsome!

5. Your Favorite Food? i will have to say spaghetti is my ultimate favorite. but any kind of mexican food comes in close 2nd.

6. Your Dream from last night? have no idea...probably about crafting. i've been dreaming about that a lot lately.

7. Your Favorite Drink? DIET COKE! i crave this stuff on a regular basis but starting Nov. 1st i have decided not to drink it anymore and try and stick to the water. BLAH!

8. Your Dream/Goal? my dream is to be in ITALY! my goal is to live in ITALY! i'm saving up my money to move there when i'm 30. i have 5 yrs to save all that i can and attempt to live the italian life. this is something i've wanted to do for awhile so crossing my fingers.

9. What room your in? currently i'm in the Pittsburg State University library. i have yet to get internet hooked up at my house so i'm "stealing" their wi-fi. its free so i don't feel to bad.

10. What's your Hobby? i really don't have a set hobby but i love to be involved in photography projects, scrapbooking and recently finger knitting and granny squares.

11. What's your Fear? tornados...enough said

12. Where were you Last night? i was in my bed trying to get better. had a few days of feeling sick.

.5 Obsessions of late.

my lovely friend janel tagged me in the 5 obsessions of late. it took me awhile to post this but i finally got around to it. i'm suppose to tag 5 friends but since i don't have any followers i will do it for myself. so here it goes:
***childrens rooms. i have a few friends that are expanding their families and it gets me in the mood to want to decorate for a small child. its all the little stuff that makes me smile. the small clothes and the little toys. i love the vintage feel of blue and green for the boys and the granny chic of yellows and pinks for girls. it makes me so excited to be apart of these little ones lives.

***my love for autumn journals. autumn is my favorite and i just love the thought of putting together a little journal full of inspiration. whether its the colors or the feel of warmth. maybe the fashion ideas or even fun photos. i love autumn!

***snail mail. i just love getting mail. recently i have been getting tons of mail from my sweet blog friends and it makes me so happy. there is just something about handling a piece of mail that someone has put time and effort to send you. something they know you will enjoy and can keep forever. thanks friends.

***mix tapes. OMG! as in the words of Jacksmannequin. "this is my mix tape for her...its like i wrote..every note...with my own fingers." joining different lyrics and music together to make a mix tape is so much fun. it can bring all kinds of elements together. WOwZa!

***BATMAN! this obsession has actually been one of mine for awhile now. i love the first batman movie and i love the design. by far this is my favorite super hero. i wish so bad to have my own batman to love and adore. "to the BATcave"

i'm finally believing that fall has arrived. the days are getting colder and the leaves are starting to change. craft festivals are in order and pumpkins are to be bought. so many things are going to be happeneing soon and i'm ready.

*i found the best pumpkins ever...ok not the most perfect but they are grown right in my moms and dads backyard. they are still on the vine and looking so cute. my dad is the cutest gardener by far*

i have been browsing wardrobe_remix on flickr for awhile now and it amazes me how unique and creative these people are. its not full of models or runway fashion, its real people wearing what they feel comfortable in and displaying some awesome DIY street fashion. so today i have decided to take on the job of wardrobe_remix also. joined the flickr group and already am planning new fashion in my head. really actually excited to do something like this. elsie of RVA recently started posting remix' and i love her style so much. thanks elsie for putting me in the remix mood.

GAME DAY!

GAME DAY BABY! Pitt State University played at Arrowhead Stadium in KC MO saturday and we were there to tailgate the day away. Heather, Ali, and I all headed to the game around 2p.m. and started our grill to cook us up some hot dogs...needless to say somehow the grill didn't work as planned but the hotdogs did get a little warm...we ate them anyway. Our boys didn't end up winning but thats ok. We had a blast hanging out and enjoying the nice weather..i love these two girls..

i bought these red coozies at hobby lobby. our school colors are crimson and gold so i thought what better way to be supportive then to write Pitt State on one side and our names and date on the other. i always try to incorporate some kind of craftiness into my day!

LABOR DAY LOVE!...RVA and the BEACH BOYS

Red Velvet Art was hosting a NERD Party! Elsie and Rachel had the place so warm and cozy, ready for a night full of fun. The store was redone with a feel of autumn and friendship. Elsie had a make and take of pipe cleaner glasses and wonderful snacks to munch on. New paintings were in the shop and tons of other goodies. I couldn't wait to snatch up a handful of things to buy.

The Beach Boys came to Oklahoma to Downstream Casino and us Dillons Pharmacy girls were right there to get in on the action. Misty has never been to a concert in her life so this was the perfect one to be her first..nothing better than the classics. I think we had a way better time then any of us had imagined. Something about the California surf vibe was so unexpected and well worth the sunburn i happened to aquire somehow...so glad Linda, Misty, Shelli, and I decided to go.

THE BIG 25!

today i turned 25....i don't feel any older. i feel alone. i spent the whole day by myself and i didn't even really care. tons of birthday wishes flooded in yet i didn't see one person to spend any time with. the 25th year of my life will be a change for me...i will make it happen. i want to explore, design, and accomplish something incredible. 5 yrs and counting till italy. i marked this day as a starting point. now to just achieve this goal and i will feel as if i'm doing good in my life. happy birthday to me.

Upon coming home from work today i checked the mail and what do i find...HAPPY MAIL! Come to my surprise there were two packages in my mailbox. One from the lovely Janel which included the mix cd she made. i won the give-away...totally shocked and so excited. i needed something to lift me up while i have been dealing with my diabetes and in the hospital. i love listening to it...it makes me feel so comfortable. Second was my 3rd installment of Happy Mail from Tara. She sends the coolest things, things that i adore. i thank jamie for having such an inspiring blog friendly idea. i enjoy have this connection.

i have finally entered the computer world..i probably am the last person in the free world to just now get a computer. i saved up my income tax money and decided on a laptop. i'm for the most part way excited to be able to reach out to all my blogger friends. i still don't have internet hooked up at the house so for now i'm currently using the campus library and the laundry mat. why not, it's free wifi. if i don't have to pay then i will use it to my advantage. i'm hoping to start blogging on a daily basis but who knows. thanks to all my blog friends who have encouraged me to find the daily inspiration.
